Newsletter week 41

Dear Peacocks parents,

We kindly ask you to fill in the Christmas Holiday form and give it to one of the Peacocks teachers before October 17th.

The Peacocks group will have their school pictures taken on the 21st of October.

From this week on if we send a movie, you can watch it by using the link above the links to the pictures.

Our learning:

In the science and board games room the children were divided in smaller groups. As miss Asma is on a Holiday, Jelena will be with us for next week aswell.

In the board game room the children played a card game with her and they could make puzzles.

In the science room the children could draw, read books about animals or play with the animals.

As a preparation on our next theme, Changes, we talked about the days of the week, month and seasons. We will repeat this every day in circle time.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability

* Understanding of the importance of maintaining their own health and well-being

In the Library we divided the children in smaller groups, they could read a book, had an language activity with Jelena and with Corrie the children talked about charity and how we can help people that need our help.

On Thursday we baked to raise money for charity.

After lunch we went outside and had Capoeira class.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

*Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something and express their thoughts.

* Develop their creative abilities and the ability to convey impressions

Today we went to the museum! We had great help from Anna, Katja, Jochen and Shadi.

We took some busses and the train so the children practiced a lot with walking in the city and how to travel around Stockholm.

In the museum the children walked around with their little group where they saw different exhibitions.

There was a movie about winter sports in Sweden, the Olympics in Sweden, the closes all sports need and they had a little gym where the children could play. They did a running race, rock climbing, hanging on the rings and balance exercises.

Ones at school the children were exhausted but had a great time:)

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their motor skills

After being outside for a while we went inside to bake cookies! We made Syltkakor for the children to eat after snack and to have to raise money for charity.

The children enjoyed the baking and eating a lot!

Together with Jelena the children continued the language exercise. They did different activities where the children had to listen the sound and tell and point the letter. Also they have been trying to write down the letters.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn.

* Develop their understanding of quantity, measurements and change

Chemistry day

On Friday we went I to the art room to conduct our chemistry experiment.  Our goal is to make crystal stars using hot water, string, pipe cleaners, cups, food coloring, and borax.  The children all participated in the activity.  After mixing the ingredients and following the instructions, our mix will be left until Monday.  Then we can see our final results.  We will also observe why the mix turned int hard crystal (falling in ine with our theme of changes)

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

*Develop their understanding and knowledge of science

Week 44: Höstlov – School is open! Part-time children are off.

Important information:

We have noticed that often it happens that a child is picked up by someone else then you.

If this is the case please let us know by sending us a text message, phone call, email or directly speaking to us. This is for the safety of your child!

Also please remember that the children are not allowed to climb on the gate and fence. To keep it safe for the children we kindly ask you to not lift your children from or over the fence.  When saying goodbye or picking up a child, please do not approach or stand outside the fence.  The children will come to the fence and want to climb it which is no ok.

Please send indoor shoes with your child.  We will have a fire drill and every child should have indoor shoes for this.

To be able to start our activities with all the children we we would like to let you know that we have snack and circle time at 9.30 and start our activities no later than 10.00.

We have seen that many children want their parents to stay longer, and that is very normal. Leaving your child at the pre-school can sometimes be a challenge. For children saying goodbye is more difficult when you stay for a long time. We know it can be though, but for the child it’s often better when you leave quickly after drop-off. Except of Monday when we have planning time, one of the Peacock teachers is always at school from 8.00.

We will have toyday every last Wednesday of the month. The next toyday will be on the 29th of October.

We kindly ask you to not give your child toys to school on the other days.

Together with the Flamingoes we will start the theme Changes in week 42. In week 42 and 43 we will teach the children about the concept of changes. After höstlov we will read the book of the ‘Hungry Caterpillar’. We will have arranged all different activities around this book and the change of the caterpillar to a butterfly. Also we will visit the museum in Hagaparken!

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us or speak directly with us.
