Dear Peacocks parents,


On Thursday May 28th the Flamingoes and Peacocks will go to Skansen!
We will leave in the morning, bring lunch with us and will be back just after snack time.
For this outing we are looking for 4 parents who can join us. You will have the responsibility of 3 children that day. Who can join us to Skansen?:)

To make a good planning we would like to know before April 30th.Thank you so much in advance!

Our learning:

Monday:

In the morning we had a recap of how a terrarium works. In small groups the children will make one this week.

The have put all the layers in themselves and wrote their name and the name of the seeds on the bottle.

 

Just before lunch we have transported the cocooned caterpillars to their new habitat. It was very exciting, four of the five caterpillars are in their cocoon already. They have been hanging upside down on the lid of the jar. We opened the jar and with a paperclip they are still hanging on the paper in their new home. We will check on them everyday hoping they will become butterflies soon.

 

In the afternoon the children had capoeira class.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their use of spoken language and express their thoughts, put questions and to communicate with others

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

 

Tuesday:

Some more children made the terrarium in the science room!

In the morning we had the birthday circle of Vidar. In the afternoon the children had ice cream after snack.

In the library we spoke about the letter A, did a writing and listening exercise.

In the afternoon the children had dance class from Hebert and went outside.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

 

Wednesday:

Another group made their terrarium in the science room.

In the math and construction room we had Toyday! Almost all children brought a toy they could share with each other.

Also all children made an Easter basket of paper. They decorated it and folded it into a cone.

 

The children played in the drama and pretend room and in the construction room.

In the afternoon we went outside.

 

Today it was waffle day! For snack Corrie made an waffle for each child. It was very yummy!:)

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their creative abilities and the ability to convey impressions, thoughts and experiences in many different forms, such as play, pictures, song and music, and drama

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

 

Thursday:

Today the last group made their terrarium. They are all in the window in the science room. Everyday we have looked at them to see any change.  

Also we checked on the cocoons, all five of them are still in there…

In the morning the children were divided in three groups, one group did fractions with Corrie, they wrote the letter t and the played with the big Legos.

Also we read the story of the letter t and the children all traced the big letter t in the book.

We started with deciding words into sound groups, the really like it!

 

In the afternoon the children had Jolly phonics class from Magda.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their fine motor skills

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their abilities to express themselves in many ways such as art and play

* Develop their creative abilities and the ability to convey impressions, thoughts and experiences in many different forms, such as play, pictures, song and music, and drama

* Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

 

Friday:

In the morning the children were divided over the gym and art room. I the art room the children cut out Easter eggs and pasted the corresponding number next to it. The other group decorated an Easter egg on paper with glitter, they will get this one home next week!

In the gym Marcio did several running and jumping exercises with the children.

 

In the afternoon in the gym we have been singing songs with the Flamingoes together and the children played several games.

 

In the afternoon we had Swedish class from Olga and Meiry.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

*  Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

*  Develop their understanding of space, shapes, location and direction, and the basic properties of sets, quantity, order and number concepts, also for measurements, time, and change

*  Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

May 18th: Staff meeting –  pre-school closes at 16.00

Important information:

On Monday we have our Easter Hunt in the morning. 

A Swedish tradition is to come as Påskkärringar with Easter. As school is closed during Easter children are welcome to come to school dressed up as an Easter witch if they would like that.

 

Please make sure your child has warm rain clothes at school and extra clothes. When you drop off your child, please make sure he/she is dressed appropriately for the weather.

The children and us try to take the best care of the toys but small toys may get lost. We kindly ask you to not give your child toys to school on the other days. Our next toyday will be on the 29th of April.

Skansen!!

 

Dear parents,

 

On Thursday May 28th the Flamingoes and Peacocks will go to Skansen!

We will leave in the morning, bring lunch with us and will be back just after snack time.

 

For this outing we are looking for 4 parents who can join us.

You will have the responsibility of 3 children that day.

In Skansen we have our ‘exit point’ of our IPC theme Changes. We will focus on all the animals, flowers and weather that changes (the life cycles we have been talking about alot).

 

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are able to join us.

Dear Peacocks parents,

We would like you to please fill in the Easter break form  and hand it over to us before the 21st of March.

Thanks for your help!

 

From Monday on Asma will be with the Flamingoes group. Marcio will join our group!

As we are working close together with the Flamingoes all of us will still see Asma a lot!

 

Our learning:

Monday:

This week we start the plant cycle.

In circle time we have showed the children pictures and a movie of the life cycle of a plant.

All children cut out the parts of the life cycle and pasted them in the right order.

 

After that the children could play in the science room with the animals, books and drawings.

 

Just before lunch we went to the construction site next to the school. The children prepared some questions and the builders showed different machines.

 

In the afternoon the children had capoeira class.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their use of spoken language and express their thoughts, put questions and to communicate with others

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

 

Tuesday:

In the morning we received a small package with a jar with 5 small caterpillars in it!

They will stay in the science room where we will check on them everyday. In two weeks they will turn into a cocoon and will be transferred to a large home where they will become butterflies.

 

In the Library we did a recap of the life cycle of a plant. The children made a wheel with all the different stages. If they turn the top wheel they will see all the stages step by step.

 

In the afternoon the children had dance class from Hebert!

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

 

Wednesday:

In the morning the children watched another movie about planting seeds, not in the sun and with water. But with a special yell that is even being used by astronauts in space shuttles. The yell is specially designed do the seeds can grow without water and sun as the yell has everything in it for a plant to grow.

After that we made our own Planetarium. The children have planted some seeds in a jar filled with gel. Because of the gel the children can see the plants and the roots grow.

We leave it in a cupboard for one week. We will check the seeds everyday and will continue for the next few weeks.

We talked about what will happen to the seeds; how they grow, what they need to grow and how long it will take for one seed to grow.

 

The children played in the drama and pretend room and in construction room.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

Thursday:

In the morning we baked cupcakes. We talked about grams and how to measure in grams.

With a weighing scale the children could see the different amounts.

We did some counting activities with all the ingredients.

We have been baking for Math day but also to have a nice treat:).

 

At the end of the morning we did the birthday circle for Lukas and Mattias.

Also we practiced the letter A and T. In small groups the children did several activities, they made the letters on a paper, listened to the sounds on a movie and used playdough to make the letters.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their fine motor skills

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their abilities to express themselves in many ways such as art and play

Friday:

Today it was Math Day!

Some children helped Darren to make the Maths Day movie. The children were divided into 3 groups. Each group got 3 different challenges. They solved math problems in each group e.g making patterns with colors, aranging from tallest to shortest, sharing the cups equally and many more.

 

In the afternoon the children had Swedish class from Meiry and Olga.  The pictures and movie will be coming in a separate email.

Plant cycle + outdoor clothes

 

Good morning!

 

This week we start with the life cycle of the plant.

Next monday we will make closed jar terrariums.

We will need some big glass jars with lid. If you have any big glass jars at home

can you please leave them in your childs locker?

 

As the weather has been chaning a lot the last few days, we would like to ask you to still keep the childrens snow and rain clothes at school. You may never know what March and April have to offer us:).
