Newsletter week 4

Dear Peacocks parents,

Very important!: From now on there is a code on the front door. Only people with the code can enter the school during day time. This was brought up by the PSA to safety ensure safety. The code is: 2580.

We have noticed that the children are being picked by different people, fe.x.; grandparents, aunts and nanny’s. As your childs safety is very important to us we have asked you to let us know who is dropping off and picking up your child. Unfortunately this does not always happens. This is why we came up with a, hopefully, better extra idea.

– Could you all make a list of people, name and relation to the child, that can pick up your child(ren) and email this to us as soon as possible? These people will be put in to our signing in system so everybody can see who is allowed to always pick up your children.

Next to this list we still would like to ask you to tell us or the signing in person if your child is going home with a friend or not you.

Our learning:

Monday:

After all the stories about the weekend we did a nature/art activity. The children heard a lot about the cycle of the butterfly. We read the book ‘caterpillar to butterfly’. On a plate they had to complete the cycle. They had to cut out all the pieces first and put them in the right order.

The children could make different exercises to practice their pen grip and counting. They could make a sheet where they had to follow the line and connect numbers.

Also they could choose to play with the dinosaurs, animals, read books or draw.

In the afternoon in small groups they could play in the board games room and went outside.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their use of spoken language and express their thoughts, put questions and to communicate with others

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

Tuesday:

In circle time we divided the group. After reading the book of the hungry caterpillar, the children now the story very well. With cards they have been sequencing the story.

After circle time the children could read books, draw and in the five senses room they could play with the blocks. Also they played the guessing game, dividing the group in two teams.

The children could make a drawing of the caterpillar. They helped cutting all the fruits for our puppet show.

In the afternoon Asma started with some children gluing the first painted bottle caps on the caterpillar!

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability

Wednesday:

In the morning we had our first drama class of Magda. She went through all the characters and who will be which one. She showed the children how to hold the fruits and what to do.

Also we had a quick start with the first two lines of the story.

In the math and construction room the children could choose where they wanted to play with. One activity was to find the twin pairs of butterflies and draw a line between them. For some of the kids this was a challenge as some of them looked very much the same.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their gross motor skills

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

Thursday:

In the morning we went to the math and construction room. Here we talked about the puppet show, how we need to hold the sticks and some more practical things.

After that the children were divided in three groups. In the stations we had different math games with as a theme, estimating. They had to guess if there were more kids wearing sneakers or other footwear, more children with long or short hair, how many more blocks fit in the jar, how many blocks can you stack without them falling down.

After lunch we enjoyed the wonderful snow by sledding down the hill!

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their gross motor skills

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their abilities to express themselves in many ways such as art and play

Friday:

In the morning we went the hill. It was colder but we had very good new snow, we were the first one to use it today. After that we had a tough walk to the park where we played for a bit.

Inside we went to the art room were some children painted the body parts for the caterpillar. After that we started sticking lids on it.

Also the children could play with the beads, play dough and draw.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

*Develop their motor skills. Ability to coordinate, awareness of their own body, as well as an understanding of the importance of maintaining their own health and well being.

Dear parents,

We truly hope the snow will stay for a bit. This is why we want to go to the hill, close to the swimming pool behind the school at the park, on Wednesday.

We have sleds the children can use but we want to ask you to bring a helmet for your child.

Their helmets can stay on their spots at school.

If your child has no helmet he or she can not slide down but will play in the snow near the hill.

Attached you find important forms. Please look at them and if you should have any doubts let us know.
