Dear parents,

We most likely have a case of pin worm in our class. The child is already treated with medication.

For the last week we have been going with the children to the bathroom and this has been going very good. The children use the toilet and wash their hands, after that we make sure that the bathroom is left clean and tidy.

We are making sure all children wash their hands regularly, but unfortunately it also spreads trough the air.

If you have any doubts, please contact us.

Newsletter week 46

Dear Peacocks parents,

Important dates and information about Thanksgiving can be found at the bottom of our newsletter.

We will be outside in all weather conditions. Please bring clothes for your children that are appropriate for the weather. We can not change the weather and we will be outside in snow, rain and sun, it is important that your child has warm and rain proof clothes to wear.

It is getting darker! When you pick up your child, make sure you tell the signing out person (yellow vest) that you picked up child as it is very difficult for this person to see everything that is happening in the yard.

Also it is important to tell the signing in person in the morning (yellow vest) if someone else is picking up your child.

Our learning:

Monday:

Tuesday:

In the morning we had circle time where we talked about the day and we practiced the Lucia songs.

After that we had the letter S to discuss. We watched a short clip, we did phonetics and the children practiced writing the letter. After that they had to find the correct spiderweb for the spider by following the right line.

After lunch the children went outside and played in the math and construction room.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their creative abilities and the ability to convey impressions

Wednesday:

In the morning we had circle time where Corrie did a math game with the children. Together with Corrie they clapped and had to count the claps. After that he made it more challenging by not only counting the claps but also had to count the clicks.

After circle time the children were divided and played in the drama and pretend room.

After lunch we went outside and played in the drama room. Also we had circle time and practiced the Lucia songs.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

Thursday: On Thursday morning we began  with a sensory activity.  Asma brought a bag full of bottle caps and the bag was passed around to each child.  Every child had a chance to put their hand inside the bag and feel the contents.  The only rule was they could say aloud what they thought they had touched until everyone had a turn and they were called to answer.  Afterwards, Asma asked the children about things that could be done with a bottle cap after it has fulfilled its intended use.  Most of the children agreed that the bottle caps could be used for art or recycled.

After this Corrie spoke with the children about biodegradability and the differences between a bottle cap’s biodegradability and something such as fruit.  We also watched a short time lapse video of some fruit decomposing to demonstrate its biodegradability or its ‘’return to nature’’ as we called it.

After circle time, Asma began with an art project with the children using the multicolored bottle caps and gluing them to a surface that had been painted different colors.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

*Develop their interest and understanding of the different cycles in nature, and how people, nature, and society influence each other.

*Develop their creative abilities and the abilöity to convey impressions, thoughts, and experiences in many different forms, such as play, pictures, song and music, dance and drama

Friday:  Friday morning, half of the children started the day finishing bottle cap art activity with Asma, and the other half were in the gym playing a new game with Corrie.  The game is Called pillow tag.  In this game the children line up on opposite sides of the gym.  when the game begins the run out to grab either a ball or a pillow that is on the floor between the two sides.  The object of the game is for one side to gather all of the pillows.  Once a child has a pillow or a few pillows, they must hold onto the pillows and not be hit by a soft ball thrown by another child.  If a child is hit by a ball they must place their pillow back in the center of the floor making it available for anyone to pick up.  The children really like this game!  they are running back and forth, dodging or catching balls, and making decisions.  They love the action!  After the game we revisited what biodegradability means.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

*Develop their motor skills. Ability to coordinate, awareness of their own body, as well as an understanding of the importance of maintaining their own health and well being.

*Develop their ability to play and learn

*Develop their creative abilities
