Newsletter week 35
Dear Peacocks parents,
For our IPC Olympics theme we would like the children to have a white shirt with the flag of the country that child will represent. We will iron the flag of that country on the white shirts.
Could everyone bring a white shirt to school before the 3rd of September?
Next week we will start the Olympic theme with all the activities we have planned. One of the activities will be for the children to pick a country by potluck. This way we will have six countries represented by the Peacocks and Flamingoes children. When we have activities during our Olympics theme, the children will be working with the children from the same country.
From next week on we will be working with a marble jar. They can get marbles by accomplishing a goal, individuality and/or as a group. When the children have reached 50 marbles they can choose a film from some pre-selected movies to watch.
Our learning:
Monday:
We had circle time where we introduced ourselves to everybody. In the science room the children had the opportunity to explore the room in small groups.
One group played with the animals, a group read books about animals, a group could draw and one group used the Ipad.
Also we have been outside in the front yard where we have been playing hide and seek, a tag game and football.
We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:
* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn
* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability
Tuesday:
On Tuesday we went to the park. For all the children this was a fun experience. They went on the swing, the big slide and balancing on the logs.
After lunch the children had time to play by themselves in the pretend room and using beads in the lunch room.
After snack we went outside and played in the front yard.
We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:
* Develop their motor skills. Ability to coordinate, awareness of their body, as well as an understanding of the importance of maintaining their own health and well-being
* Develop their ability to function individually and in a group
* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn
Wednesday;
We started our day with the Birthday Circle to celebrate Valter’s birthday. The Birthday Circle works likes this. The birthday child walks around the sun holding a globe and we sing the “earth goes round the sun” to the tune” farmers in the dell”. As the child completed one circle around the sun, he helps count and talk about significant stages or developments that happens in each year. In the end we sing Birthday songs and the child gets to blow the candle.
By having the birthday circle for every child, the children feel they are welcome, special and appreciated for being a part of the group.
After lunch the children had time to play by themselves in the pretend room and using beads in the lunch room.
After snack we went outside and played in the front yard.

Thursday:
Today in circle time we discussed the Olympics to find out what to children already know about it. The children came up with lots of sports and could tell us what sport they wanted to practice.
They are looking forward to the next weeks.
After lunch we went outside, some of the children played hide and seek and others helped with a true treasure hunt in the sandbox!
We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

Friday:
Friday is our official park day, we went to the big park where the children enjoyed the good weather and played on the swing and on the slide.

Important information:
Weather is changing again so please make sure your child has enough rain clothes and extra clothes at their spot.
Not all children have indoor shoes, its for their own safety they have to wear them. Also we will be using the gym a lot in the next few weeks, and it’s to dangerous for the the children without indoor shoes to play in the gym.
To be able to start our activities with all the children we we would like to let you know that we have snack and circle time at 9.30 and start our activities no later than 10.00.
We have seen that many children want their parents to stay longer, and that is very normal. Leaving your child at the pre-school can sometimes be a challenge. For children saying goodbye is more difficult when you stay for a long time. We know it can be though, but for the child it’s often better when you leave quickly after drop-off. Except of Monday when we have planning time, one of the Peacock teachers is always at school from 8.00.
Our class schedule is on the pink mirrors upstairs close to the toilets. We also use this spot to hang up the newsletter and other important information.
Every last Wednesday of the month we have toy-day. Please make sure your child does not bring toys, money, bears or other things from home on other days. These things can be a distraction.
If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us or speak directly with us.
Have a great weekend!
