Newsletter week 35

Dear Peacocks parents,

For our IPC Olympics theme we would like the children to have a white shirt with the flag of the country that child will represent. We will iron the flag of that country on the white shirts.

Could everyone bring a white shirt to school before the 3rd of September?

Next week we will start the Olympic theme with all the activities we have planned. One of the activities will be for the children to pick a country by potluck. This way we will have six countries represented by the Peacocks and Flamingoes children. When we have activities during our Olympics theme, the children will be working with the children from the same country.

From next week on we will be working with a marble jar. They can get marbles by accomplishing a goal, individuality and/or as a group. When the children have reached 50 marbles they can choose a film from some pre-selected movies to watch.

Our learning:

Monday:

We had circle time where we introduced ourselves to everybody. In the science room the children had the opportunity to explore the room in small groups.

One group played with the animals, a group read books about animals, a group could draw and one group used the Ipad.

Also we have been outside in the front yard where we have been playing hide and seek, a tag game and football.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability

Tuesday:

On Tuesday we went to the park. For all the children this was a fun experience. They went on the swing, the big slide and balancing on the logs.
After lunch the children had time to play by themselves in the pretend room and using beads in the lunch room.
After snack we went outside and played in the front yard.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their motor skills. Ability to coordinate, awareness of their body, as well as an understanding of the importance of maintaining their own health and well-being

* Develop their ability to function individually and in a group

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

Wednesday;

We started our day with the Birthday Circle to celebrate Valter’s birthday. The Birthday Circle works likes this.  The birthday child walks around the sun holding a globe and we sing the “earth goes round the sun” to the tune” farmers in the dell”. As the child completed one circle around the sun, he helps count and talk about significant stages or developments that happens in each year. In the end we sing Birthday songs and the child gets to blow the candle.

By having the birthday circle for every child, the children feel they are welcome, special and appreciated for being a part of the group.

Thursday:

Today in circle time we discussed the Olympics to find out what to children already know about it. The children came up with lots of sports and could tell us what sport they wanted to practice.

They are looking forward to the next weeks.

After lunch we went outside, some of the children played hide and seek and others helped with a true treasure hunt in the sandbox!

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

Friday:

Friday is our official park day, we went to the big park where the children enjoyed the good weather and played on the swing and on the slide.

After lunch we celebrated Mathildas birthday with Birthday Circle. Mathilda brought a great treat to school that we enjoyed with snack time.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their ability to function individually and in a group

* Develop their identity and feel secure in themselves

Important dates:

September 12-14th: Lice preventing weekend

September 18th: Staff meeting – School closes at 16.00
September 26th: Futura Olympics

September 29th: Parents meeting 18.00-20.00 – All parents are invited to come to the school, more information will follow

Important information:

Weather is changing again so please make sure your child has enough rain clothes and extra clothes at their spot.

Not all children have indoor shoes, its for their own safety they have to wear them. Also we will be using the gym a lot in the next few weeks, and it’s to dangerous for the the children without indoor shoes to play in the gym.

To be able to start our activities with all the children we we would like to let you know that we have snack and circle time at 9.30 and start our activities no later than 10.00.

We have seen that many children want their parents to stay longer, and that is very normal. Leaving your child at the pre-school can sometimes be a challenge. For children saying goodbye is more difficult when you stay for a long time. We know it can be though, but for the child it’s often better when you leave quickly after drop-off. Except of Monday when we have planning time, one of the Peacock teachers is always at school from 8.00.

Our class schedule is on the pink mirrors upstairs close to the toilets. We also use this spot to hang up the newsletter and other important information.

Every last Wednesday of the month we have toy-day. Please make sure your child does not bring toys, money, bears or other things from home on other days.  These things can be a distraction.

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us or speak directly with us.

Have a great weekend!

Ämne: Welcome to the new school term!

Dear Futuraskolan parents,

Welcome back from Vacations!

Almost all of our kids have been coming back this week!

Next week we will have some more children starting with us and other kids will be coming back from vacations too.

August is a very special month of the school year! Children are happy to see their friends and to meet their teachers but at the same time, they miss their parents and families a lot!

Of course! They have been all day with you during the whole summer 🙂

It´s also a month when we have many new children starting at the pre-school and we have several children going through their schooling-in periods.

A lot of laughing and crying all around the pre-school… And that´s just the way it´s supposed to look like 🙂

On the 01st september, after the schooling-in period ,we will be starting with our IPC-EY (International Primary Curriculum Early Years)

We will cover several fun units(themes) from the IPC-EY such as Olympics, Transports, Animals and Changes in which the children will be learning the Academic and personal goals of the swedish and international curriculum as well as our core values (PER- Progressiveness- Energy and Respect)

When preparing our children to be global citizens, we will be training the skills that will help them to become successful adults such as Adaptability, resilience, thoughtfulness,  cooperation, Enquiry, communication, morality and Respect.

The IPC-EY is a well developed pedagogical program that helps children learn through several fun activities in an inspiring and well planned way and it always has an international/ global approach.

During this school term we will be celebrating several traditions, such as:  Health day, Olympics, Chemistry day, United nations day, Halloween, Thanks giving, Nobel day and Lucia

Until the end of next week, you will be receiving the week schedules of your children´s groups and the planned activities for each day of the week.

Teachers will be sending you newsletters every friday with the description of the activities done during the week as well as what is planned for the next one.

Every day you will be able to read what the children have done during the day and the connections with the swedish national curriculum in our communication board in the entrance of the pre-school.

If you have any questions or doubts, don´t hesitate to ask teachers and I am always "all ears" even when I´m not present at the pre-school

I would like to welcome all the children and parents back to our Futuraskolan family!

I am sure we will have, once again,  a great school year together!’

Best Regards

Ämne: New theme – Olympics

Dear Parents,

We would like to inform you about the next theme we will be working on.
On Monday the 25th of August we will start with the theme ‘Olympics’. We will be organizing the activities together with the Flamingoes group. On Friday the 26th of September will be the big Futura Olympics where we all will participate.

Our planning:

The Olympics theme will take six weeks in total.

First, we will talk about the history of the Olympics and make the torch. In the second week we will observe and perform our own Olympic opening ceremony. Then we will start with the track and field sports. In the third week the children will try some gymnastics as well as some team sports.

The fourth week we will be busy with training and also talking about healthy eating. We will also compare our own diets to the athlete’s diets.
On Friday the 26th of September we will have the Futura Olympics! For this reason we will practice the planned Olympic games in the fifth week. In our last week we will have a recap of all the information and games the children have learned. Also, in this same week we would like to plan another outing.

Help:

In order to organize all of this and to make it happen we would like to ask your help.

– Which parents have the possibility to help us during the Futura Olympics on Friday the 26th of September? We will need the help of 4 parents on that day.

– We will be doing lots of sport with the children. Are there parents who can help us organize a specific sport by coming to the school and teaching the children about any of the following sports? We will be doing Track and Field, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, hockey, baseball and softball.

– We would like to take the children on an outing to a sports hall or stadium where they can watch a practice of a soccer team, ice hockey team, ….

Is there any parent who could help us arrange for the trip?

– As we will be doing lots of activities in the gym, indoor shoes is necessary for your child to participate in all of the activities.

Every week you will receive a newsletter from us on Friday where we will let you know what we have done. Also you can find this information on the ‘What we did today’ form that we will write and post near the school entrance everyday.
