Ämne: Changes in Peacocks teachers

Dear Peacocks parents

Here is some important information:

Our amazing teacher Florentine Jenster decided to leave Futuraskolan Maskinvägen to start working at Futuraskolan Warfingesvägen.

Florentine will be living right next door to the other pre-school and she feels it would be better for her to work closer to her home. She also has friends working in the other pre-school and she feels it´s the right thing to do.

I want to thank Florentine for her great work during her stay at Maskinvägen and for contributing to the pre-

school´s success and quality in learning. I´m sure she will shine wherever she goes.

Her last day with us will be on 9th october. Good luck Florentine!

We want to welcome the teacher Nicky Abrante to the Peacocks group. She has been working with us since the beginning of august. She is a legitimated pre-school teacher and has a broad experience in working in pre-schools as well as with Jolly phonics and I´m sure she will be a great asset to the pre-school.

Dear Flamingoes Parents,

Here is our newsletter for this week.

First, we would like to welcome our latest additions to our aquarium, guppies! We got guppies on our latest

trip to täby this wednesday. Be sure to drop by and check them out!

Also, you have probably noticed the recent changes in the dining room. We want to thank you all, the parents, for your tremendous help and for continuing to help build our wonderful school. Our preschool is for everyone to be involved in. Furthermore, we have an inspiration board located at the top floor, near the staff room, in which you all are more than welcome to write any ideas you would like to contribute to the further development of our school. We are going to be the best!

Now to what we did this week.

Our Learning

This week we continue our theme of "jobs". We went to täby centrum and borrowed many books on the jobs that our flamingoes wanted to be when they grow up such as the ever so popular firefighter and even a star wars book. We have asked our flamingoes many questions related to what job does what and really let them explore what a job means. In working with our job theme, our aim is to develop their curiousity and enjoyment in this theme and to show the flamingoes that all jobs are important.

To develop their sensory skills of taste and seeing, we expiremented with dissolving sugar and salt in water and had our flamingoes guess which one dissolved first. The flamingoes could then taste the solution and decide which one they liked better. We had a lot of fun doing this experiment! In addition, on gym day, we worked on developing their sense of touch and memory by having our flamingoes memorize the layout of the pillows and then blindflolding them so they can get as many pillows as possible.

In reflecting our theme as an international preschool, we have also been working on developing their communication skills in different languages by compiling and starting to sing songs in spanish, english, italian, swedish, german, etc.

To develop their gross motor skills, on gym day we have a variety of fun activities such as tying together one leg of a flamingo to another and had them race back and forth. We also laid out an obstacle course where each flamingo had to jump over a progressively taller object to reach the end of the mat. The flamingoes had a lot of fun participating in on gym day!

Best Regards,

If you have any questions please let me know.

Dear parents,

Our learning

This week we talked about Sweden. The children have been making the Swedish flag; they have seen some typical Swedish subjects, such as Bamse. The children have been drawing pictures for him and everyone has an envelope with a stamp from Bamse. Next week we will send the letter by going to a mailbox!
On Thursday we went to the library, we took the buss and had a short walk. The children listened to a Swedish story and talked with the librarian.  Also they had the opportunity to read some books themselves in the library.
Next week we will talk and learn about the Netherlands. We will bake, have math games to play, learn a Dutch song and much more!

Information from us

On the 17th of March it is St. Patrick’s Day! We will be celebrating this on Friday the 15th of March. We would like all the children to have something green on that they (a shirt, pants, hat etc).

With Easter coming up some children will not be at school for a holiday. On the form we gave you, you wrote down when your child is coming. Thank you for helping us! Now we can plan for those two weeks, we will work those two weeks on Easter. We will have a ‘egg hunt’, sing spring songs and have art activities.

Saying goodbye to your child is always difficult and we understand that very well. But children get used to the time that you stay in the room. They will expect you to stay longer and longer. This way saying goodbye will be more and more difficult. We want to ask you to try not to stay to long in the classroom. They are in good hands! J

On the 12th of April we will have an outing to Taby Centrum! We will give you more information about this later on.

We have experienced that a lot of clothes get missing and that not all the children have extra clothes. We would like to ask you if you can bring labeled extra clothes for your child.

We would like to ask all the parents to call or text us if your child is sick, not coming or if you are going to be late. Our number is: 070 4749286.

Important dates
28th of March: regular pre-school is open till 14.00
29th of March: closed for Good Friday

Dear Flamingoes Parents,

Its been a great and busy week here at our school! As you might have already seen, we are transforming our bathrooms into something…well you will see next week. All we can say is that its going to be reflective of our flamingoes and of course be something amazing!

Also, in celebration of our wonderful "jungle" lunch room, the flamingoes went to täby centrum and rented Madagascar for the whole school to watch. We really showed the whole school that we like to move it! Move it!

Information from us

Important, we have unfortunately had a lice (löss) outbreak at our school. If you suspect your child has lice please check his or her head. If you find lice on your child´s head, please keep him or her at your home for 3 days.

Remember, please do not share any personal or clothing items with other children.

Long hair should be kept in braids or ponytails. Boys should keep their hair short.

28th of March: pre-School closes at 14.00

29th of March: Good Friday- pre-school is closed

1st of April: Easter Monday-pre-school is closed

Our Learning

Continuing our theme on "jobs", this week has been about what a baker does. We continued to develop their curiousity by showing them videos about baking, renting a book about baking, holding dicussions about what a baker does and how they bake at circle time, and letting them bake themselves so that they can see firsthand what a baker does. Our aim is to let them fully explore different jobs and let them immerse themselves in the process of exploring.

On the 14th of March was Math Day. To celebrate this day, we built an igloo, played an estimation game invovling how many milk cartons can fit into a bag (we had some really close guesses!), and played a number/color match game. Our aim was to develop their ability to distinguish, express, examine and use mathematical concepts and their interelationships.

To develop their interests and ability to play, learn, and work on their gross motor skills and hand-to-eye coordination skills, we played basketball, volleyball, and hopball on gym day. The flamingoes had to pass the volleyball (a balloon) over a bench and to their partners on the other side. They had such fun!In addition, to work on their gross motor skills, we had some balancing exercises as well.

To develop our international theme, we also showed the flamingoes how circle time was in different countries. They were very interested in seeing what their peers were doing in circle time in different countries!

Best Regards,

Darren, Paulina, and Therese
