Newsletter week 22

Dear Peacocks parents,

 

We will send two more movies of Skansen on Monday.

 

From week 23 we will practice the summer party every day with the whole school at 9.30. Make sure your child is on time to practice with the whole group.

 

It’s tick/fästing season! We do our best to check on every child but please check your child (every day) more thorough at home.

 

Our learning:

Monday:

In the morning the children played in the Forest as we are fixing the front yard.

After that we went inside and had snack in the science room.

In circle time we talked about Skansen, the bus trip, the groups, the animals and all the activities. One of them is the small town from the past.

With word cards we showed the children objects of the past and present. The children have learned many things about the past!

After that we finished the graduation hats and the children could play in the science room.

 

After lunch the children watched a movie about animals in the winter. Also the children read different books about animals.

In the afternoon the children had Capoeira class.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their use of spoken language and express their thoughts, put questions and to communicate with others

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

*Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and  also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

* Develop their ability to distinguish, explore, document, put questions about and talk about

 

Tuesday:

In circle time we talked about Skansen again. Also we did a recap of the present and past cards. Connecting with that Corrie talked to the children about time traveling to the past and to the future.

Marcio started making the second item for the summer party costume!

 

In the morning some children had dance class from Therese and in afternoon the children had dance class from Hebert.

In the afternoon we talked about all the different animals at Skansen and we talked about the movie we saw yesterday.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

 

Wednesday:

We had a quick snack inside, after that the children went outside in the backyard and in small groups we made a cookie to bring to Skansen for every child.

In the math and construction room we had toy day! It was very nice seeing the children play together with their toys.

 

Marcio continued preparing the outfits for the summer party and the children made great designs.

After lunch we talked about Skansen. What we will do, how the day looks like and also about all the animals and activities we will do.

Also Florentine brought in a very old pen (dip pen) from her grandmother and a modern version. She showed the children how to use it and the children that wanted, could try to write with it.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their creative abilities and the ability to convey impressions, thoughts and experiences in many different forms, such as play, pictures, song and music, and drama

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

 

Thursday:

Skansen!! It was a very exciting day for the children and us. In the morning we left with the bus,  when we got to Skansen we had snack.

When we got to Skansen the children got into their small groups. Every group went their own way, the children went to the Scandinavian wild animals, to the small zoo and the farm.

We had lunch all together at the beginning of the park. After that we walked to the ‘past’. In small groups we walked through the old town and saw the shops and houses.

We had snack together and walked to the bus to go back to school.

We thought it was a great day and we want to thank all the parents that came with us on this trip!

* Develop their creative abilities and the ability to convey impressions, thoughts and experiences in many different forms, such as play, pictures, song and music, and drama

* Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

 

Important dates:

June 5th: Celebration of Sweden’s National day

June 11th: Summer party 15.00-17.30!

June 19th: Midsommarafton – pre-school is closed

June 24th: Toy day outside! All children can bring one toy they can share to play with outside.

July 6th-July 31st: Pre-school closed (inform by May 10th if you need child care)

We have capoeira classes on Monday at 15.00.

On Tuesday the children will get dance classes from Hebert from 14.00 to 15.00.

On Thursday we have Jolly phonics(English) and on Friday the whole class has Swedish, in the afternoon. Also we will practice for the summer party dances on Wednesday and Thursday from 14.30-15.00.

 

Please make sure your child has warm rain clothes at school and extra clothes. When you drop off your child, please make sure he/she is dressed appropriately for the weather. It is not always possible for a staff member to leave a group of children to dress a single child.

We have toy day every last Wednesday of the month. The children can bring one toy (game or toy to share) to school. The children and us try to take the best care of the toys but small toys or Legos may get lost. We kindly ask you not to send your child to school with toys on the other days. Our next toyday will be on the 27th of May.
