Dear Peacocks parents,

In the next weeks we will develop the music room!

If you have any music instruments at home that are not in use anymore; they are very welcome for a second life at the pre-school:).

Our learning:

Monday:

As not all children were at school last we we began with a recap about the life cycle of a frog which is in line with our ‘’changes’’ theme. We watched a short video about the processes of a frogs life.

After that the children played a memory game with frogs on it, a drawing with the life cycle of the frog on it and a picture game with all the stages.

Also they could play in the science room with the animals, dinosaurs and draw.

In the afternoon the children had capoeira class.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their use of spoken language and express their thoughts, put questions and to communicate with others

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

Tuesday:

We have stayed outside a little longer as the children were building a very high sand tower and playing tag.

in the Library Corrie spoke about the life cycle of the frog. The children had to sequence the stages and say the names fitting to it.

After that we did some Jolly Phonics, the children came up with word with the sounds ‘sss’ in it. Also we made a start with listening closely to the word and hear if the sound is at the beginning, middle or end of the word.

In the math and construction room the children practices writing the letter s, and cutting a spiral snake mobile.

In the afternoon the children had dance class from Hebert!

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

Wednesday:

In the morning the children were divided into two groups. Each group played in the drama and pretend room. In the pretend room the children played in three stations. They loved to pretend to be doctors, chefs and at the grocery store.

After lunch we went outside to the forest were the children played with big tree sticks and they played tag.

In the math and construction room we talked about greater than, less than and equals.

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their self-autonomy and confidence in their own ability

Thursday:

In the morning the children have been baking cookies. The Peacocks helped the Ducklings with pushing in the shape. The Peacocks made pink butterflies and the Ducklings made green turtles. They were great helpers and it was lots of fun!

In the math and construction room the children have been practicing less than greater than. They even wanted to already have some easter pictures.

The children also did Jolly phonics with Magda in the afternoon.

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their fine motor skills

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their creative abilities and the ability to convey impressions, thoughts and experiences in many different forms, such as play, pictures, song and music, and drama

* Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

Friday:

In the morning the children did several activities in the art room.

To practice greater than and less than, the children cut out three crocodile mouth and stick them on the right spot, facing the bigger amount.

Also the could play with the play dough, draw in their drawing book and they could make a magic stick with a star!

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

*  Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

*  Develop their understanding of space, shapes, location and direction, and the basic properties of sets, quantity, order and number concepts, also for measurements, time, and change

*  Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

March 13th: Math day

March 25th: Toyday

March 30th: Egg hunt

April 3rd: Good Friday – pre-school is closed

April 6th: Easter monday – pre-school is closed

April 22nd: Staff meeting – pre-school closes at 16.00

April 29th: Toyday

Important information:

!! It is wet outside!! Please make sure your child has warm rain clothes at school and extra clothes. When you drop off your child, please make sure he/she is dressed appropriately for the weather.

We have capoeira classes again on Monday at 15.00.

On Tuesday the children will get dance classes from Hebert from 14.00 to 15.00.

The children that go to school have on Thursday Jolly phonics(English) and on Friday the whole class has Swedish, in the afternoon.

We would like to ask to leave the helmets at school (schooldays). We have sleds at school that the children can use.

We have toyday every last Wednesday of the month. The children can bring one toy (game or toy to share) to school. The children and us try to take the best care of the toys but small toys may get lost. We kindly ask you to not give your child toys to school on the other days. Our next toyday will be on the 25th of March.

Dear Peacocks parents,

 

Some children borrowed extra clothes from each other, please bring these items back to school.

 

We want to ask you all to take a close look at the spring calendar, the important dates and the important information in our email.

 

This week Asma, Florentine, and some children were away on holiday but we continued with a bit of our theme as well as the fun!

 

Our learning:

Monday:

 

We began to talk about the life cycle of a frog which is in line with our ‘’changes’’ theme.  The children watched a short  video about the processes of a frogs life.  Just as every monday, the children enjoyed capoeria class.  Since there are some children who are away the class was a little longer!

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their use of spoken language and express their thoughts, put questions and to communicate with others

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

 

Tuesday:

 

The children had a long dance lesson with Hebert.  We also are starting to learn some new songs.  ‘’This old man’’ was introduced today.  This is a great song for the children to continue learning to rhyme as well as count.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

* Develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.

 

Wednesday:

The children played in the drama and pretend room in the morning.  We took some time to sing the new song we have learned.  ‘’John Jacob Jinglehiemershmidt’’.  We briefly spoke about the life cycle of a frog.  As it was the last Wednesday of the month, the children had toy day!

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

* Develop their creative abilities and the ability to convey impressions, thoughts and experiences in many different forms, such as play, pictures, song and music, and drama

* Develop their curiosity and enjoyment, as well as their ability to play and learn

Thursday:

In the morning we began with music using the ipad and a midi control piano.  We started with just touching the piano and playing some notes.  We also got into learning the scale.  Hopefully we can get as far as teaching the children how to play a simple song.

 

Just before lunch we read a couple of emails written to the children from Florentine who is on holiday in the Dominican Republic.  We discussed where the Domincan Republic is in proximity to Sweden,  the flag,  the time and weather differences, and how the people might look.  

 

The children also did Jollyphonics with Magda in the afternoon.

 

We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:

Friday:

In the morning the children were in the science room.  During circle time we spoke a bit about the frogs life cycle again just to refresh their memories.  Afterwards, the children were divided into 3 groups.  One group went to the board games room and played memory and Uno.  One group played the Pizza game on the ipad.  The pizza game is a tool to help the children learn fractions.  In the afternoon, the younger children did activities in Swedish with Merry.  We also revisited the music scale of notes.
